Square Brackets on Screen (trouble shooting)

PROBLEM : Square Brackets on Screen.

SOLUTION: Set the terminal emulation in their communication software to vt100 or higher. Also enter the exact terminal emulation that is chosen in the communication software at the terminal type prompt when logging in.
